Discipleship

The word disciple means follower, particularly a follower of Jesus. Following him involves adopting and acting out his values. Perhaps the most important is "Love one another" which is reflected in the church's motto "live a life of love". The fullest statement of Jesus's values is found in The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew chapters 5 to 7).

Jesus never coerced anyone to follow him. Neither do we.

In Matthew chapter 4 Jesus made two demands on each human being.

The first demand was to repent (Matthew 4:17) .

The second demand was to follow (Matthew 4:19).

He left the choice with his hearers.

From September 2017 for about twelve months our church will engage in a series of studies in discipleship both in plenary group and small groups. The studies will be based on the book Discipleship Essentials:
