Worship - receive our adoration

One of the primary aims of our church is to worship God. This takes a number of different styles that suits a wide diverse group.

Our family worship on a Sunday morning takes place at 1030 and lasts for about one hour. The service combines a range of old and new worship songs and hymns. Since we have different worship leaders throughout the month, they bring their personal approach which keeps our worship varied. During term-time, there is a
break-out session for children and we have a kids' corner in the church if parents wish to keep infants close by during the service. We celebrate communion every 1st and 3rd Sunday during our regular Sunday worship.

On the 2nd and 4th Sundays in the month, there is a service on a Sunday evening. This is a more free flowing and open service where attendees can proactively participate in worship by saying a prayer, picking a song or bible reading or sharing something that God has revealed to them.

On the second Sunday of every month, we have a really informal CafeChurch service where we tackle a specific theme without any 'sermon' as such. We try to keep this as informal as possible with round-table discussion, a quiz as well as coffee and cake.

Prayer is an important aspect to our worship. At Montpelier, we have a number of prayer-based activities. We have a quarterly prayer drop-in, and a monthly corporate prayer meeting as well as taking part in wider prayer initiatives with Purley Churches Together.

Jesus said,

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

John 4:23-24
